World Sleep Day 2023: History and significance

World Sleep Day is an international awareness campaign organized by the World Sleep Committee of the World Sleep Society (founded by WASM and WSF) that promotes sleep and tries to support people who have severe sleep issues.

World Sleep Day focuses on a variety of sleep-related topics, including sleep medicine, sleep education, and the societal implications that inadequate sleep may have on daily living

World Sleep Day is being celebrated this year on March 17, 2023. The annual Sleep Awareness Day seeks to increase public awareness of significant sleep concerns, including their social, educational, and medical dimensions.

The theme for this year's Sleep Day is 'Sleep is Essential for Health'. The purpose of World Sleep Day is to promote and develop sleep health on a global scale.

According to World Sleep Society, the theme aims to focus that as eating well and exercising is necessary for good health, a good sleep is a foundation to one’s physical, mental, and social well-being.
